10X1% = 1000%
Using the 10 goal method and applying the 1% strategy will drastically improve your performance in the most critical areas of your life.
The object of effective goal setting is to focus on improvement and the 1% method is a fantastic strategy for continuous improvement. When deliberately applied together, you measure the success of your plans and track your activity.
To start, pick 2-3 goals in 4 areas of your life; for example career, financial, health, family. Write the 10 goals in the affirmative present and make them quantifiable.
I spend 20 hours each week of quality time with my family.
I weigh 150 pounds.
I spend 20% of my working time cultivating new customers.
I contribute 6% to my 401K.
Write the 10 goals in terms of what you achieve in 10 months. Brian Tracy calls this the 10X10 method for setting goals. Caution, don't write in the negative; e.g. I don't waste time or I don't weigh 200 pounds. Most important, look at your goals daily.
Next, apply the 1% method to each goal. If you currently spend 3% of your time cultivating new customers, COMMIT to an increase of 1% per period (for example every 2 months) until you get to your goal. In 10 months, adjust your goals for continuous improvement or change a goal if the goal has been attained. Interestingly enough, if you improve 1% every day, you can get an improvement of 37 times better which is way more than 1000% improvement.
Imagine reaching your goal in the 4 most important areas of your life or better yet, target doubling (100%) your performance in 10 areas of your life. In that moment, you will feel 1000% more effective and have a more balanced and happy life.
Use the 10 goal method and apply the 1% strategy to get 1000% improvement! Then keep doing it!
